The Graduate. I'm around the age of Benjamin's character and recent rewatches of this film have been hitting me extra hard, particularly that famous ending shot of him and Elaine on the back of the bus. Their happy faces in the excitement of great youthful impulse slowly turning to the sad realization that they don't feel any less empty--despite their great act of rebellion agai
La La Land, the “White Saviour Narrative,” and Rebels Without a Cause. There’s a great moment when Ryan Gosling’s character Seb is awaiting Mia for their second date to watch "Rebel Without a Cause" after he finds out she’s never seen it. When she finally arrives with a wash of the Nicolas Ray film upon her silhouetted body, their
La la Land made me cry. If you haven’t seen it this won’t make sense. I saw it a few weeks ago but just found the words.. I’m almost 40 and had an on off bf since high school, Guy. He died in early this year .. and I regret not having that moment of mutual recognition - of growth that the end beautifully depicted.
Holy crap. I'm in such a similar situation as you, girl. I last went to Korea September 2019, and haven't seen my boyfriend since. I might be crazy for saying this, but LS will always be apart of C9 even if he isn't on stage or drafting. His influence in the team will be felt.
Normally you watch the movies and the two lovers have the struggles, their separation but they always end up back to each other. Why do you think these two were different? I think the stress of trying to make it in Hollywood was just too much for their relationship. The pursuit of their individual dreams takes all their energies with nothing
La La Land is the most low-energy "musical" I've ever seen Ok so I watched this for the first time and I truly truly can't understand the level of praise it got. It feels like more of it comes down to the fact that Hollywood loves movies about themselves .
The first being the phrase la la land, the second almost a pun referencing the fact that it's a musical, and lastly an actual pun, because the movie takes place in LA. After seeing the movie, I thought I was right about all three, with the movie itself expanding on and connecting those themes or ideas, in both concept and story.
